Unpacking Internalized Racism (for BIPOC)
UNDERSTAND | RECOGNIZE | CHALLENGE
Over the generations, Black, Indigenous, and people of color have been taught by white dominant culture to abandon our sense of self in order to make more room for whiteness. This deep-rooted conditioning that flows through many of us is known as internalized racism.
Internalized racism does not only impact how Black, Indigenous, and people of color think about, feel about and treat ourselves, but it also impacts how we think about, feel about, and treat other BIPOC folks. It is damaging to the holistic wellbeing of our communities. Unpacking internalized racism allows us to promote wellness within ourselves and within our communities. This is deep decolonial work.
In this self-guided 12 chapter course, we will identify characteristics of white dominant culture, explore how BIPOC have internalized white dominant culture, and examine how BIPOC can challenge this conditioning so that we can return home to ourselves. This tender journey will look at the following:

Jacquelyn Ogorchukwu is a writer, designer, and author in the wellness space. She is extremely passionate about creating spaces where Black, Indigenous, and people of color can tend to their racial trauma.
She holds a Social Welfare degree from UC Berkeley, where she studied the structural, institutional, interpersonal, and internalized forms of racism that affect the wellbeing of Black, Indigenous, and people of color. She also holds a User Experience Design degree, where her research focused on racial trauma, the barriers to therapy for Black, Indigenous, and people of color, and how to design a platform that connects BIPOC clients to therapists of the same background.
There are so few spaces in wellness where Black, Indigenous, and communities of color have their experiences with racism validated. Jacquelyn is one of the innovators who is committed to changing that. Her racial trauma work has been recognized by BYRDIE, New York Magazine, Buzzfeed, I Don't Mind, Nappy Head Club, Balanced Black Girl, Refinery 29, Huffpost, METRO, and more.
Keep up with her here.
This is a 12 chapter course that guides you through deep decolonial work. It is important that you pace yourself in a way that sits well in your body. Once you buy the course, it's yours to keep.
This course costs $69 per person but the cost can be split into 3 monthly payments of $23. I aimed to make this course as accessible as possible while also honoring the deep labor that went into birthing this offering.
While understanding, exploring, and challenging internalized racism is deeply therapeutic, this course is not therapy and shouldn't be treated as such. This course empowers you to liberate your mind, body, and spirit.
If you are interested in supporting the healing of Black, Indigenous, and POC, buy this course for a loved one.
If you are a company or school that is interested in buying this course, please reach out to makingthebodyahome@gmail.com for separate prices.

Read MoreMaking the Body a Home is beautiful, healing, and unlike any content or knowledge I have ever engaged with in my entire life. It has given the language to describe experiences, emotions, and patterns that I encounter daily - and that before I had struggled to name or articulate. Beyond that, Making the Body a Home gave me tender reminders, powerful reframing reflections, and concrete actions I can take with me to heal and respond as I continue to move through the world. This kind of content that is urgently needed, and I sincerely recommend it to anyone reading this.

Read MoreThis program is a wonderful addition to my spiritual/healing journey. It also reminds me of my days in undergrad majoring in African Studies, which has been my most rewarding educational experience to date. This program is a great self assessment tool and also serves as an outlet to process emotions that have lived in my body for far to long. Deep bow to the creator. You are seen and appreciated!

Read MoreI found this course at the right time, and I have shared with SO many people how amazing this has been. The affirmations are written in a notebook, along with my journal writings and letters to my inner child. I really feel like now, because of this course and what has led me here, I am expressing myself more fully and the information/type of people I am attracting are what I truly need! Thank you for this <3

Read MoreI got this course for myself and I am so glad that I did! Within just the first section I was deeply questioning myself and realizing so many things that I had internalized that I thought I never did internalize or was "over" already. It's a very healing course that will be a lot to take on so it's definitely a good thing it's self-paced and lifetime access. The reflection questions leave you with a lot to think about if you sit with them for a while. I have already decided to gift this course to a family member as well and would do so again to anybody open to digging deeper and healing. This definitely gives me a whole bunch of starting points to look into within myself that I can work on, so thank you! 10/5
